"For I know the plans I have for you ... "
Sometimes things seem so logical and clear. Knowing how we are meant to act isn't science - actually acting as we should is a totally different matter. In combination with emotions, I find myself repeatedly getting tangled up in this matter, falling over and banging my head on the hard stone of reality. But it's always amazing how God can work in wonderful ways. The journey may not become any easier. Right now, though, it feels like God is lifting the fog to reveal the light at the end of the tunnel. '"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord.' (Jeremiah 29.11-14). His voice seems to be ringing out, not in sound waves, but in the way my life is going. Finding joy in the middle of my deepest sorrow is something I never thought would be possible. Finding peace is the most difficult thing in life - laying down the things of the past, knowing that we are forgiven and that we cannot change our decisions, but God can change those situations and use them for good things to come. I realise now, we will never reach the most perfect state of goodness, grace and forgiveness. "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." (Romans 8.18). With this in mind, and the fact that God will NEVER leave those who put their trust in Him (Joshua 1.9). I will not give up searching for the One who created me, the One who knows me better than I know myself - for the One who can fix this! ... comment |
